We have 62 bulls that can be used on heifers(and/or cows). You can have both! Our average birth weight in 2009 was 77 pounds and 78 pounds in 2008. Birth weight has not been an issue with us but we do recommend using bulls with acceptable EPDs for CED (calving ease direct) and birth weight. We have found some bulls throw calves with a better shape for birthing while others seem to have a little shorter gestation. Both of these are figured in when the CED is figured. Our selection is pretty simple. Cows must have and raise a calf every year. The calf has to weigh good at weaning. Udders, feet and legs anddisposition must be good. We advertise gentle cattle because they are. This doesn't mean we don't have to cull for this annually, but the cattle we sell will be gentle and are a result of our culling program. Fertility is still job #1 around here. We also realize you have lots of choices when buying bulls and we certainly appreciate your considering us for your bull needs. And, in our opinion, the cattle you buy are only as good as the folks you buy them from.....We also purchase cattle from time to time in an effort to keep our genetics as good as possible. If I trust the people, then I trust the cattle. It is that simple. We hope you have the same opinion of us. If not, let me know that and we will do our best to make it right. On our web site, we have the sires of many of these calves listed. Please take a look if there is a particular blood line you are interestd in. Let us know what your needs are and we will do our best to fit you with a bull that will work best for you. In the mean time, keep the fire burning and the water dripping. Spring is just around the corner. (I hope)....We just had our first "spring born" calf this week. Shoot me an email or give me a call if we can help you out. We'll leave the gate open.
